DISCOVERY NEWSLETTER

February is an exciting month for DISCOVERY students. We have begun to study the Olympics and will follow the events of the next two weeks in Vancouver, Canada. In addition we are studying the origin of the Ancient Olympic Games and of the Modern Olympic Games. Please have your students bring in articles from newspapers, magazines, etc with information and/or pictures of important events of the Winter Olympics this year. The opening ceremony can be viewed Friday night, February 12^th on NBC from 7:30 pm until midnight. Each student has volunteered to present to the class something about the Olympics. Information about that is forthcoming.

Our Fifth and Sixth Grade DISCOVERY students have been invited by Mr. Bubber Epps, Georgia House of Representative Member from the 140^th District to be special guests at our the Capitol and at a legislative session on Thursday, February 25^th. Mr. Epps is one of our DISCOVERY grandparents and also the husband of a former Tattnall teacher, Mrs. Kathryn Epps. We hope to even meet the Governor on that day. Students should dress in chapel dress. Please return the field trip permission forms by Friday, February 19^th.
