End of the Year Newsletter

DISCOVERY END of the YEAR NEWSLETTER

May 19, 2010

It is hard to believe that the school year 2009-2010 has come to an end. It has been a fun year in DISCOVERY with our theme “Every Shoe has a Story.” We have studied the story of our own shoes, the story of the first shoes (boots) on the moon, the story of shoes of our soldiers and veterans, the story of the shoes of Christmas, the shoes of good health, the shoes of Olympians and lastly the shoes of people who have been in the way of forces of nature that have created natural disasters. In addition, the sixth grade has studied the legal system of our county and the shoes of their future. We have enjoyed and learned from field trips to Fernbank Center of Natural History, the Bibb County Courthouse and the Georgia State Capitol.

Each Discovery student will receive an award on Honor’s Day for the extra effort they have put into DISCOVERY which is over and beyond their regular classroom assignments. Several sixth grade students will be honored for their winning essays in a writing contest sponsored by the Macon Exchange Club.

I wish all of you a wonderful summer. I look forward to the return of our DISCOVERY students in the fall for challenging studies and fun, learning field trips.

It is a privilege to teach each student.
